Founder / Head, HEROIQ Capital

James Drage is the founder/head of HEROIQ Capital, a Vancouver-based private Canadian investment fund. HEROIQ is active in both Equity and Venture Debt investing. Equity investment decisions are guided by 'The Number of Lives Positively Impacted'.

Beginning with a prior fund in 2010 a main area of interest has been gaming. His current focus is on Serious Games and digital therapeutic (DTx) games. Within those areas, his primary interest is in utilizing new solutions such as Web 3.0, The Metaverse and Blockchain to improve games in useful ways i.e. avoiding hype. Through portfolio company Participant Games, he is leading the reboot of The 99 Kids IP with video games, an animated TV show, comics and more.

Prior to HEROIQ James was in the M&A industry, started, grew and sold several companies and founded the first private venture capital fund in Atlantic Canada in 2005.

He is a frequent speaker at investment and business conferences, coaches other venture capitalists and VC-backed companies and sits on numerous boards. 'He is an alumnus of INSEAD, Columbia and Dalhousie Universities.
